Avoca Systems Ltd provide specialist information management and training solutions to the healthcare sector. The company has an illustrious portfolio; it created the largest ever national online analysis service for the NHS and was chosen to provide solutions for the National Programme for IT in the NHS. With recognised, market-leading expertise in data migration for the NHS, the company prides itself on quality and its service provision has been endorsed as “outstanding” by healthcare clients.

The Avoca Training Academy offers tailored training provision that is specially designed for healthcare clients. From June 2011, Avoca offers the newly accredited “Higher Diploma in Health Informatics” in addition to its shorter courses. These include practical training at foundation and advanced levels in Structured Query Language (SQL), and highly acclaimed courses in Practical Informatics Skills and NHS Knowledge. An NHS Conversion Course is also offered, for career changers or those looking for a route into health informatics. The Diploma is underpinned by industry-relevant National Occupational Standards and is mapped to the core elements of the NHS Knowledge & Skills Framework. Work is currently taking place to map the course learning outcomes to UKCHIP recognised competencies.

The Academy has an excellent reputation for training quality in the healthcare sector, being winner of a Regional Award at the prestigious National Training Awards 2009, and the ‘Business Skills & Staff Development’ award at the Derbyshire Business Awards.

As part of its commitment to professionalising health informatics and as a further mark of quality, Avoca enjoys a continuing partnership with UKCHIP with over half of all employees being registered at level 2 or above. “As our business is built on a reputation for quality and knowledge expertise, people truly are our greatest and most valuable asset,” says Avoca’s Operations Manager, Julie Waters – herself level 3 UKCHIP registered.

In response to recent demand, Avoca have developed a new pseudonymisation service for clients. This is designed to make it simple to track de-identified patients through their patient journeys, respecting Caldicott Principles as well as addressing patient safety issues. The service processes, which have been rigorously tested, can be delivered with these proven pseudonymisation rules and supplemented with bespoke rules to meet a Trust’s unique requirements. Deployment can be in batch, or in real time using an integration engine such as Ensemble.

Avoca’s highly trained experts are ready to assist you with your next informatics project, and currently have Health Informatics and SQL training places available to book via their website.
